Buy Hotmail Accounts: What You Actually Get

Short version: a Hotmail account and an Outlook account are the same Microsoft account. Same servers, same login page, same OAuth flow, same Graph API. Is Hotmail still a real thing?

Why buy Hotmail instead of Outlook?

There are three reasons people specifically ask us for @hotmail.com, and one reason they should not bother.

• The domain reads as older. Hotmail stopped being handed out to new users over a decade ago, so an @hotmail.com address implies an account that has been around a while. Some platforms weight that; most do not. Treat it as a mild signal, not a guarantee.
• Regional targeting. If your audience is in the UK, France, Germany or Italy, a country-specific Hotmail domain looks native in a way @outlook.com does not. This matters more for outreach than for signups.
• Fingerprint spread. If you already run a batch of @outlook.com accounts, mixing in @hotmail.com gives you domain variety without changing anything else about your setup or tooling.

The reason not to bother: if you assume Hotmail accounts are technically superior, they are not. Deliverability, OAuth support and API access are identical, because it is the same infrastructure underneath. Pick Hotmail for the domain, not for the features.

Pick your delivery format before you check out

This is the part buyers most often get wrong, so it is worth being explicit. Every Hotmail order ships in one of two formats, and you choose which one in the cart:

• Standard gives you email:password. That is the whole line. No recovery mailbox, no OAuth token. Fine for straightforward logins and signups.
• Full gives you email:password:oauth:client_id:recovery_mail. That adds an OAuth refresh token, the application client ID, and a working recovery mailbox.

Choose Full if you plan to authenticate through the Microsoft Graph API, connect over IMAP with modern auth, or automate anything. Choose Standard if a human is going to type the password into a login box and that is the end of it.

One practical warning about Standard: signing in from an unfamiliar device or IP can prompt Microsoft to ask for a recovery email before it lets you through. The Standard format does not include one, so that prompt becomes a dead end. How long do Hotmail accounts last?

In our experience, somewhere between one and twelve months, often longer if you are careful. We cannot be more precise than that and neither can anyone else selling these, because the accounts live on Microsoft's servers and Microsoft decides. Lifespan tracks how you use them: sending patterns, IP reputation, how fast you ramp up, and whether automated checks flag the behaviour.

2. Keep one account to one IP. Logging into thirty accounts from a single address is the single loudest pattern you can produce. Residential or mobile proxies beat datacenter IPs here.
3. Buy the Full format and keep the recovery mail. When Microsoft does challenge the account, having the recovery mailbox is the difference between a thirty-second confirmation and a lost account.
4. Do not change everything at once. New IP, new device, new password and a bulk send on the same day looks exactly like a compromised account, because that is what a compromised account looks like.
5. Store credentials somewhere you will still have them. Obvious, routinely ignored, and the most common reason people ask us to resend an order.

Which Hotmail domain do you actually receive?

Mostly @hotmail.com. The regional variants exist in the pool, but they are not evenly distributed and we do not sell them as a separate SKU, so a 100-account order is not going to arrive as 100 @hotmail.co.uk addresses.

If your campaign depends on a specific country domain, say so in the order notes at checkout before you pay. We will tell you honestly whether we can fill it at the size you want. If you have no specific reason to prefer the legacy domain, buy Outlook. It is the same account and the same price, and @outlook.com raises no eyebrows anywhere.

Buy Hotmail when the domain is doing work for you: you want the older-address signal, you are targeting a country with its own Hotmail variant, or you are deliberately spreading across domains. Those are real reasons. "Hotmail sounds more established" on its own is not, and you will get the same result for the same money from the Outlook listing.
